Product Description
The TINDO FLU-series preduster (flouring machine) applies a uniform, even layer of dry flour to meat, poultry, seafood, and plant-based products before battering and breading. Two models — FLU400 and FLU600 — cover 400mm and 600mm belt widths for small to mid-scale coating lines.
The preduster serves a critical role in the coating sequence: it applies a thin "primer" flour coat that helps the wet batter adhere uniformly in the next stage. Without predusting, batter beads up on the product surface, creating bare spots and uneven coating that lead to inconsistent frying color and rejected batches.
Full SUS304 stainless steel construction with variable-speed conveyor and flour circulation system, the FLU-series integrates directly with TINDO batter and breading machines for a complete coating line.
For double-drum predusting with heavy, scale-like flour coating, see our Double-Drum Preduster FLU-DS Series.
The FLU-series applies flour evenly across the full belt width using a combination of flour curtain drop and air-assisted circulation. Every product surface — including the underside — receives the same primer coat, eliminating the bare patches that cause batter adhesion failures downstream.
Belt speed is adjustable from 3-15 m/min via variable frequency drive. Operators match the preduster speed to the upstream forming machine and downstream batter applicator — critical for maintaining consistent coating dwell time across the entire line.
Excess flour is collected beneath the belt and recirculated through the system, reducing flour waste by approximately 15-20% compared to open-tray flouring. The circulation system includes a vibrating screen that separates product crumbs from reusable flour, keeping the coating media clean.
Belt, frame, flour hopper, and all contact surfaces are SUS304 stainless steel. No painted surfaces, no corrosion points. Quick-release components allow full washdown between product changeovers.
The flour hopper and belt release with quick-release clamps. Changing from chicken to fish or beef takes under 10 minutes, including washdown — critical for factories running multiple products on the same line.

Product | Flour Type | Belt Speed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Chicken nuggets | Wheat flour | 8-12 m/min | Standard predust before batter |
Chicken tenders | Wheat flour | 8-12 m/min | Same profile as nuggets |
Fish fillets | Corn flour / wheat blend | 10-15 m/min | Lighter coat for delicate fish |
Shrimp | Wheat flour | 10-12 m/min | Gentle belt speed to avoid breakage |
Onion rings | Wheat flour | 8-10 m/min | Heavier predust for batter adhesion |
Vegetable fritters | Rice flour | 6-10 m/min | Sticky batter needs firmer predust |
Plant-based nuggets | Wheat / pea protein blend | 8-12 m/min | Plant protein dough needs consistent primer |

Coating applied | Dry flour (fine, thin primer) | Crumb, panko, breading (thick outer layer) |
Purpose | Prepare surface for batter adhesion | Provide final crispy outer texture |
Position in line | Before batter | After batter |
Layer thickness | Thin — invisible in finished product | Thick — visible and textural |
A complete coated product passes through both: flour primer (preduster) → wet batter (batter applicator) → crumb layer (breading machine) → fryer.
Q: Why do I need a preduster if I have a batter machine?
Without a flour primer, wet batter beads up on the raw product surface and fails to adhere evenly — resulting in bare spots after frying. The preduster creates a dry surface that the batter grips, ensuring complete, uniform coating.
Q: What's the difference between FLU400 and FLU600?
Belt width: 400mm (FLU400, up to ~300 kg/h) vs 600mm (FLU600, up to ~600 kg/h). Choose based on your line's throughput and forming machine capacity.
Q: Can the FLU-series handle different flour types?
Yes — wheat flour, corn flour, rice flour, and blended coating mixes. The circulation system handles fine and medium-particle flours without clogging.
Q: How is this different from the FLU-DS double-drum preduster?
The FLU-series is a single-pass belt preduster — thin flour primer for products that will be battered and breaded. The FLU-DS uses two sequential drums for heavy, scale-like flour coating where the flour IS the primary coating (fried chicken, salt crispy chicken). Different products, different machines.
Q: What power supply options are available?
Standard 380V/50Hz. 415V/50Hz (India, Southeast Asia) and 480V/60Hz (North America) available by custom order.
